Our Bus Riding Rules

REQUIRED HEALTH DOCUMENTATION & VACCINATION RECORDS

Upon departure, please have all of your pet's documentation current and prepared. We require that you fax or email(scan) us a copy of your signed health certificate and other vaccination at least one day in advance. This includes health and immunization records and also a current Interstate Health Certificate. This health certificate is required by the USDA. Like the airlines, we require that it cannot be older than 10 days prior to your pet's scheduled transport. The health certificate generally acknowledges that your pet is fit for travel and needs to be signed by a licensed veterinarian. We will supply you with an example of this USDA required document. This and all paperwork travels with your pet. All of our locations require Rabies, Bordetella and Distemper. Please check with the location you choose as certain vaccinations may be required based on the regional location.

BOARDING THE BUS

Pet Bus boarding starts an hour before the scheduled departure time. It is important to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled time of departure for proper check-in. We adhere to a strict travel schedule and unfortunately cannot accommodate those pets that arrive late. We will provide you with explicit instructions and directions of how and where to board the bus in your local area.

WHAT HAPPENS IN CASE OF ILLNESS OR INJURY DURING TRAVEL?

We quickly assess the situation to determine what plan of action to take. Our concern is always what is best for our canine pawsenger. Depending on the situation, we will either rush the pawsenger to the closest emergency vet clinic. We also have our own team of vets on call. We always try to contact the pet parent to get their permission for our chosen course of action. You will also be asked to sign our medical emergency/release form. Each vehicle comes equipped with a pet first-aid kit.

WHERE DOES MY PET AND DRIVER SLEEP ON THE ROAD?

Sleeping Arrangements in Transit

In transit, pets and drivers sleep on the vehicle. Never is your pet left unattended. Each designated pet/driver sleeping area is approved beforehand by the main office. When on the road we prefer sleeping/rest to take place at the major interstate truck stops (Pilot and Flying J) Due to safety concerns it is our experience that the truck stops are much safer in many cases over rest areas. We will use a rest area if there are no available truck stops on a particular route or if there is 24/7 police monitoring at the rest area. We have personally inspected each truck stop and rest area first hand as well throughout our road trips.

PET PERMISSION SLIP FOR FIELD TRIP ON THE BUS

We are committed to providing each pet with the safest care possible. Therefore, we must receive the required form(s) in our office before service or transport is rendered for your pet. We will supply you with the necessary contracts and service forms beforehand.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO RIDE THE BUS?

We require that dogs be at least nine weeks old. This is for the safety of your puppy.

ARE THERE ANY BREED RESTRICTIONS NOT ALLOWED ON THE BUS?

Yes - unfortunately due to liability reasons we are UNABLE to transport Pit Bull Terriers; American Staffordshire Terriers at this time. We are sorry that we cannot accommodate this breed on any of our routes. We also do not accept any mixed pit bull breed.
