How The Pet Bus Service Works
Safely Transporting Happy Pawsengers is Our Passion!
Upon deciding that you would like for us to transport your pet on The Pet Bus, the first step is to fill out our online reservation form.
By filling out the form we can provide you with preliminary information for your pet's ground travel. Your reservation is NOT binding until we receive a non-refundable $50.00 deposit.
1. Reserve a Space for Your Pet
2. Once we receive your reservation we will contact you by email to confirm your date and availability. Upon acceptance of our services we will send you the following documents for you to sign:
- Pet Bus Medical Emergency Release Form
- Pet Bus Letter of Authority
- Pet Parent Information Sheet
- Pet Bus Contract of Services
- Credit Card form (held on file for duration of transport for use ONLY in case of any medical emergency)
- Certificate of Veterinary Inspection
3. Schedule your pet's vet exam within 10 days prior to transport. At this appointment you will get your Certificate of Veterinary Inspection which is also known as a Domestic Health Certificate. You can bring this form to your vet as a sample of what we require/or just use this attached form. This original health certificate will need to be completed by a licensed vet within 10 days prior to departure and be given to us at pick-up. We also require a copy of a valid rabies health certificate.
4. Payment Policy - We do require payment in full PRIOR to pick-up. We will need to receive this within 7 - 10 days prior to the departure date accompanied by the above contract of services and documents (all but the original health certificate).
5. We will provide you with a tentative date/week for pick-up. We will give you an exact date and pick-up time a few days prior to transport. We will confirm this time/date with you 24 hours in advance as well.
6. Pick-Up from The Bus Stop (at your residence or preferred pick-up location) We will pick-up your pet in either a cargo van or SUV. Vehicle used for transport depends on route, duration of trip, number of pets traveling, and size of pets. All vehicles are climate controlled.
7. You and your pet will be welcomed aboard by one of our friendly bus drivers. All drivers are security screened. You will provide the driver with your original health certificate at this time. At this time your pet will receive a Welcome Pack.
8. Preparing and Packing for Your Pet's Trip - we will provide a travel crate appropriate for your pet's size and in accordance with USDA standards. This crate is used for duration of the trip for safety reasons. We also provide the bedding and pillows. You will want to pack your pet's favorite toy.
9. All pets must have a collar and appropriate identification. During transit we will us a non-slip lead and our own leash for walking. We also have additional id tagging that we place on each pet's collar.
10. You will want to provide us with your pet's food. Usually a 5lb. bag is ample. You will also want to provide us with specific feeding instructions and any additional medical information. We provide fresh bottled water for your pet. We also supply the food and water bowls.
If your pet requires refrigerated medicine please let us know in advance. We will administer pills but do not administer shots or sub-cutaneous fluids. If your pet requires this type of treatment we will arrange to take your pet to a vet in transit.
11. After boarding and departure your pet will keep you updated daily. Each day your pet will provide online updates via his/her online journal, Twitter posts, and streaming of live video from The Pet Bus.
12. Delivery - you will be kept updated daily but we will confirm delivery time 24 hours in advance with an update 3 hours prior to delivery. We need to be able to reach you 24/hrs. day. We require a cell phone number or number that we can reach you at all times during transit.
13. Your pet will unload at the departure Bus Stop (your residence or preferred pick-up location). We will bring your pet right to your front door. At this time we will deliver your pet to your front door, unpack his/her travel bag, food, and toy. We will also ask you to sign a release form.
14. Striving for Pawfection. We appreciate any feedback or suggestions on how we can make The Pet Bus and our Bus Trips even better!
